New New New! And FREE stuff!

Welcome back teachers! For me, it's a year of new-ness. I am at a new school in a new district with a new group of students. But I'm still in kindergarten, and however crazy this may sound, I'm so glad to continue learning and growing as an educator in this truly amazing age-range. Nobody spits truth like a 5-year-old (or just spits, for that matter), and the scope of development and growth is unparalleled. It's also very loud and busy and somewhat chaotic, hence why this back-to-school post is coming 10 days into the school year. But as I'm in a new building, I have developed some new materials that I'd like to share in the hopes of helping other hard-working educators!

First, a new math game! I've seen this counting puzzles before and what I like most is how students can self-correct by checking the picture to make sure they got the numbers right! For now, here is a set of numbers 1-10...

Also, I've always used some sort of alphabet book as I introduce letter names and sounds, but my previous files were a bit outdated (apparently Elsa for the /e/ sound is not as relevant as she used to be). So I took some time and cleaned my alphabet book up and have been so happy with it! And now it's yours!

And lastly, a resource for all my K teachers out there to help with WAKids (and all other beginning-of-the-year assessments!)- a progress report template!! Letter identification for upper and lower case, letter sound production, sight words, numbers 1-20 and rote counting, along with color words and shapes. Here is a recording form for each student, along with a student testing sheet. I hope this helps record and manage data!!

Teach on! And maybe grab an extra coffee... cheers!
